Authorities have closed the traffic on a flooded section of National Road 4 in Preah Sihanouk province because the water level is rising.
On Tuesday morning, the water is flowing one metre over a stretch of National road 4 as the water level of Samraong river is rising.
The flood was caused by heavy rains for several days in Kampong Seila district’s O’ Bakrotes commune.
Top Penh, deputy governor of Kampong Seila district, said that the flooded section remains closed to the traffic until the water is receding.
“The level of flood water is increasing, so we stop all traffic in order to avoid any incidents,” Mr Penh said.
“If we look at the mountain, the sky is not cloudy. I think the water level will be receding within two or three hours,” he said, adding that the water level will be higher if heavy raining continues.
Mr Penh said that two boats are prepared to rescue villagers who are affected by the flooding.
