A rice factory fire yesterday killed two workers and injured four others in Kampong Speu province’s Odong district.

Colonel Khim Samon, Odong district police chief, said yesterday that the fire started at about 2.30 pm at the Golden Rice factory in Ksem Ksan commune.

“It killed two people and four people were injured,” Col Samon said. “All the injured people were sent to Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh.”

He said police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

According to a district police report, police officers used nine fire trucks, including two from the factory and two from neighbouring garment factories, to battle the blaze.
