Stung Hav district administration intervened in a land clearing operation on disputed land in Otres Commune on Saturday, seizing two vehicles as a warning to all parties to cease their activities until a final court verdict is reached.

Otres Commune police chief Nget Lorn told The Post that on Saturday afternoon, Stung Hav district governor Chhay Sokunda led joint authority forces in a crack down on land clearing at O’Damrei Pagoda in Otres Commune’s Village 4, Preah Sihanouk province. Continue reading

Preah Sihanouk provincial governor Yun Min has informed 62 families living in the vicinity of the province’s Kang Keng airport about a potential relocation as the government plans to expand it.

Preah Sihanouk governor orders firm to end activities in national park

Preah Sihanouk provincial governor Yun Min has ordered a local company to cease all development in the Prek Koh Khyong area within the Ream National Park, which the firm plans to turn into a tourist attraction.

Citing environmental concerns in a letter issued on Monday, Min ordered HTTH Island Investment to stop building a jetty and a gravel road leading to the Prek Koh Khyong beach in Prey Nop district’s O’Chrov commune. Continue reading

The governor of Preah Sihanouk pledged to restore the “province’s reputation and social order” on Monday, following orders by Prime Minister Hun Sen to curb criminal activity and disorder in the area.

Yun Min was responding to the prime minister’s comments on Saturday at the Sea Festival in Koh Kong province, in which he urged the province’s leadership to “restore its reputation and prevent all crimes”, as well as ensure environmental protection. Continue reading

Prime Minister Hun Sen has expressed willingness to support the amendment of existing laws – or support new ones – in order to prevent unauthorised reclamation projects in the Kingdom’s coastal areas.

Mr Hun Sen on Saturday during the Sea Festival in Koh Kong province said some land reclamation is allowed in some development sites such as at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in order to serve as a buffer zone for incoming waves and bring in tourists. Continue reading
