Problems with land distribution to 200 vets

Svay Rieng provincial administration officials met yesterday to iron out problems related to the ownership of houses and land allocated for 200 military veterans in Romeas Hek district’s Andaung Trabek commune.

Provincial Hall spokesman Ros Tharith said the Andaung Trabek commune chief, military police officers and provincial administration officials met to resolve the problem of a few people who were initially given the houses, but are now found to not qualify. Continue reading

Protest erupts after workers docked pay for election day

About 1,400 factory workers in Kong Deang Reay commune took to the streets to protest against their employer for deducting two days of wages after they had gone on leave to cast their votes during the recent national elections.

The workers, from a light manufacturing factory located in Kong Deang Reay commune Svay Teab district Svay Rieng province, have been protesting since Tuesday after payslips showed their salaries were deducted. Continue reading

Svay Rieng villagers protest

About 100 farmers representing more than 140 families in Svay Chrom district yesterday gathered in front of Svay Rieng provincial hall asking authorities to solve and provide compensation over a land dispute relating to the construction of a reservoir.

Meanwhile, four residents of Romeas Haek district have been summoned by the provincial court for clarification relating to a land dispute with NK Venture.
